Description
In the winter of 2000, my pilot was the only pilot to brave a take-off at a nearly frozen Chicago Midway strip. We took off smoothly, and thought our troubles were behind us.
Upon arrival in MCI, our landing seemed perfectly fine... but the windchill was a lot colder, turning the runway and taxiways into skating rinks. We turned onto a taxiway, we turned onto another taxiway, and then we kept on turning: into the ditch.
While nobody was injured, it snarled up the airport for a while to tug the plane's front landing gear out of the midwest tundra. This is just one of the shots I took.
